Ethiopian Opal Necklace ~ 14th Anniversary, October Birthday Gift ~ Natural Opal Birthstone Necklace ~ Dainty Opal & Gold Necklace for Her
Ethiopian Welo Opal Pendant with 14k Gold Plated Chain.
This dainty, minimalist opal and gold necklace is made using genuine, raw Ethiopian Welo opal chips. These are beautiful crystal opals that have not been treated and are their natural, stunning clear crystal with flashes of color.
Australia has been the dominant force in the opal market for over 100 years. During that time as much as 95% of the worldwide opal production has been mined in Australia. Today, Ethiopia is on its way to becoming the second heavyweight in the opal market.
A small discovery in 1994 put Ethiopia on the worldwide opal map. This was followed by important discoveries in 2008 and 2013. These are now producing beautiful precious opal, fire opal, and black opal with spectacular play-of-color in a variety of patterns and body colors. Ethiopian opals are not only beautiful, but they generally cost less than similar-quality opal from Australia.
This pendant is very minimalist and dainty, being only 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide, but it's beauty creates maximum impact. I have set these raw, natural opal chips into a 14k gold plated rectangular bezel that is textured on the back for added interest. The chain is a delicate 18 inch, 14k gold plated chain with a 2 inch extender, and I have finished it with a tiny round gold charm with a hand-stamped leaf imprint.
Opal is the October birthstone, and would be a perfect gift for that special someone born in October. It is also recognized as the 14th Anniversary Gift. Whether buying this for yourself, or as a gift for someone else, you will be enchanted with the other-worldly beauty of these natural, genuine opals.
