This stunning art deco bracelet has been handcrafted with genuine rectangle pillow shaped polished Larimar gemstone beads from the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. These are spaced with pretty pink, sky blue, green and gold Cloisonne enameled beads from Turkey and it closes with and antique gold toggle clasp. It is 8.5 inches long and easily fits up to an 8 inch wrist. The stones are 1/2 inch wide. (18x14mm). The metal enameled beads are 8mm in size.
The unique bright blue variety of larimar is found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, and was only discovered in 1916, and only given its name in 1974. It forms in cavities within lava created by volcanic eruptions.
The most valuable larimar stones are intense, bright shades of blue, and very rare and expensive. These stones are photosensitive, and will fade if frequently exposed to light, which only increases their value. Please be sure to keep your bracelet safely within the gift box or a jewelry box.
Larimar is sometimes also called the Atlantis Stone, Atlantis Crystal, Caribbean Stone or Serenity Stone because of its ocean-like qualities.
