Terrarium Necklace with Dried Wild Flowers ~ 4th Anniversary Romantic Gift
This delicate, pale pink rosebud is a genuine Alberta Wild Rose, our Provincial flower, picked from the bushes beside our lake lot, then pressed and dried. I have encased it in liquid resin, and then hung it on a lovely silver plated chain.
It took approximately 2 weeks to create this beautiful ode to Mother Nature. The Rose had to be picked just as it was beginning to open in early June. Then, I had to press and dry it, a process that takes almost a week to do correctly. Finally, I had to embed it in the liquid resin, which takes several days to cure completely and then it had to be sanded and drilled. This everlasting summer rose is the final result and well worth all of the time.
The heart shaped pendant is 1.5 x 1.25 inch (40 x 35 mm) and I have hung it on an 18 inch (45 cm) figaro silver plated chain with a simple lobster claw clasp. It also has a 2 inch (5cm) extender chain for more flexibility in how you wear it.
This is a very sweet and romantic necklace and it has an almost Edwardian era or antique feel to it. It would make a great graduation, Valentines, Sweet Sixteen or Mothers Day gift. Flowers are also the traditional 4th anniversary gift, and this OOAK piece would be perfect!
