Chunky Real Deer Antler Tip Necklace Cinched with a L'Assomption Metis Sash of 100% Alpaca Wool
If you are looking for something totally unique to express yourself, then this large deer antler tip wrapped in a Metis Sash is perfect for you.
The antler tip is approximately 4 inches long and 1 inch across at the top, tapering down to a rounded point. No deer were harmed in the making of this, it is from a natural shed antler that has been upcycled and recycled in the Metis traditon.
I have added crushed genuine Turquoise stone to the top of the antler and then wrapped it in a traditional Metis sash made of Alpaca wool in the L'Assomption pattern of finger weaving. The sash was traditional to the Metis of the Red River region and is a symbol of Metis pride in our heritage.
The chain is antique bronze finished steel and is 24 inches long and closes with a simple lobster claw clasp.
The colours of the Metis sash all have meaning - The blue and white are the traditional colours of the Metis Flag with the Infinity symbol on it. The Red and White are the colours of the Metis hunting flag, The Black symbolizes the dark period after 1870 in which the Métis Nation had to endure dispossession and suppression at the hands of the Government of Canada including being forced off their traditional lands in favour of European settlers. Finally, the Green signifies fertility, growth and prosperity for the Métis Nation. Green also means we must move forward and reclaim our rightful place in Canadian History.
This statement necklace is meant to be worn with pride in who we are and assert our strength and endurance as a people.
