This beautiful pearl and roses necklace is SOOOO Romantic! The focal is handmade of polymer clay in a shade of peachy pink with darker pink accents on the rose petals. It is a lovely statement piece and is 2.5 inches x 2 inches in size. I have added tumbled Rose Quartz stone chips to the back of it over the bezel, and hung it from a 14k gold plated steel bead with a Dragonfly motif. The pearls are a pretty peachy/pink glass pearl that is 6mm in size and I have spaced them with tiny glass seed beads in a darker pink. The necklace itself is 18 inches long and closes with a simple gold plated lobster clasp.
Known in the rest of Europe as ‘La Belle Epoque’, the Edwardian era was a time of frivolity and wealth for the upper classes, led by the luxury-loving King Edward VII. During his short reign, the king earned a reputation as a light-hearted, gambling playboy.
Edward’s love for all things expensive extended to jewellery and this had a great influence on jewellery fashions of the time. Alongside his magnificent coronation, which was attended by royalty and aristocracy from around the world – all competing to look more splendid than anybody else – Edward held spectacular society balls and soirées, resulting in an overwhelming demand for elaborate jewellery from those who moved in these circles. Flagrant displays of material wealth were the norm in Edwardian high society.
This piece is a modern take on that era. I have used peachy pinks and gold to give that air of elegance and to lend a delicate glow to every skin tone.
Comes Gift Boxed.
